Should I Date My Co-Worker?

Dating at workYou spend a lot of time at work.  It is not uncommon to become interested in dating your co-worker.  It can make going to work exciting and fun.   Before you decide to date someone at work, there are some things you need to consider.

Check your company policy concerning dating in the workplace.  Your employer may not allow having a personal relationship with your co-worker or may only allow you to date a co-worker at the same level but not your supervisor.  Your employer may not allow dating at work because it could affect productivity or lead to sexual harassment claims.  You should refrain from dating at work and respect your company policy if your company does not allow dating in the workplace.

Should your company allow dating in the workplace, proceed with caution.  If your relationship does not work out, don’t allow your breakup to interfere with work. This will cause tension and affect your work performance and maybe your career.

On the other hand, a number of people are dating in the workplace and actually get married as a result.  Just remember to refrain from showing affection at work.  Keep it professional in order to not distract your co-workers from doing their work and losing respect for you.
