How to Adjust to Going Back to Work

Sucessful business woman in office chairCongratulations!  You have landed a career opportunity that you have been searching for over the last several months.  This is exciting but it can also be stressful because you have been out of work for a while.  Now you are struggling with how to get back in the routine of working every day.  This is a normal feeling and you are not alone.  Here are some tips on how to adjust to going back to work.

  • Re-adjust your personal life to compliment your work life.  Put structure back in your life if you have strayed away from it during unemployment.  Get plenty of rest and make sure your family is supportive of your new schedule.
  • Get familiar with the company policies and environment.  Get to know your co-workers and focus on learning your new job.
  • Be thankful and positive.  A positive attitude will help reduce stress.
  • Look on the bright side.  Now that you are employed, you will be on your way to getting your life and finances back on track.
  • Stay connected to your network.  You have worked hard to get involved and connected. Don’t let it go to waste.
