The world may be small, but your network is larger than you think. As you look to achieve your dreams, your network of contacts are instrumental in your success.
Let me introduce you to the GERE effect. Richard Gere has been a favorite actor of mine for years and among his myriad of accomplishments, he had a way of impacting people. Well, I am confident he used some interesting tactics. Here is how I see it.
G – Give valuable information. Whatever you sow is what you reap. If you plant well, you always receive in return.
E – Educate your network. The more informed they are about something that interests them, the more likely they are to remember where they got it.
R – Recognize them. Acknowledgement and validation go a long way in enhancing your relationships with your network. Whenever you come across the opportunity to recognize someones success, do it!
E – Entertain them. In the age of electronic communication we come across many things that will make people laugh. Internal jogging of laughter makes your day more blessed. Even better, send a funny by snail mail and your presence in memory of your friends is guaranteed.
